EB-2 Visas for FY 2024 Reached Annual Limit

The State Department and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announce that all available Employment-Based Second Preference (EB-2) visas for fiscal year (FY) 2024 have been issued. This reflects the high demand for these visas among individuals with exceptional abilities and advanced degrees who make significant contributions to the U.S. economy.

As mandated by the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), a limit is placed on the number of employment-based preference immigrant visas issued annually. The EB-2 category reached its limit of 28.6 percent of the worldwide employment limit, as defined in INA 203(b)(2).

Consequently, U.S. embassies and consulates will no longer issue EB-2 visas for the remainder of FY 2024. The annual limit will reset on October 1, 2024, at the start of FY 2025, when processing will resume for qualified applicants.
