Important Update: Nonimmigrant Visa Interview Waivers

The Department of State has streamlined the nonimmigrant visa application process by expanding the categories eligible for interview waivers. This update, based on section 222(h) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, grants consular officers the authority to waive in-person interviews for specific applicant groups. Eligibility for a waiver requires applicants to meet certain criteria.

However, please note that consular officers retain the discretion to require an in-person interview on a case-by-case basis, or due to local circumstances.
